The Model 2172R is a ruggedised Ethernet Extender designed for extending network connections to Ethernet devices in harsh locations. The rugged Aluminium case provides a DIN-rail or wall mounting capability and the wide -10 to +70°C operating temperature allows the unit to be used outdoors.

Simply connect 2 x 2172Rs together over a single twisted pair of voice grade (Cat 1) copper cable and Ethernet links up to 1.8km can be easily achieved. These units are especially useful on sites where surplus cabling already exists with the potential to save thousands of pounds in fibre-optic installation.
