
The Division of Engineering and Product Design, School of Environment & Technology at the University of Brighton held its annual prize giving event on 30 July 2010 in the Design Creativity Centre. This year, the Amplicon Jim Hicks Memorial prize was presented to the Final Year Electronics student Jonathan Bickley for his project ‘An investigation into a physiological diagnostic tool to sense blood pressure’. This outstanding piece of work was awarded a 1st Class classification in Digital Electronics, Computing and Communications. Amplicon CEO, Gina Citroni, presented the prize and gave a brief talk to the students and parents on the importance of supporting young talent into engineering; ‘ Amplicon are proud to continue our association with the University of Brighton and in particular presenting an award that reminds us of our roots which are based firmly in engineering’. Dr Dal Koshal, Head of Division of Engineering and Product Design, commented ‘The recognition of successful local engineering businesses such as Amplicon is an added bonus to our students’.
